HOLY TRINITY ACADEMY

2007-2008 SCHOLARSHIP DRIVE BEGINS

Holy Trinity Academy Scholarship Committee has begun its 2007-2008 Scholarship Drive. Scholarships are used to offset the cost of tuition for students whose families cannot afford to pay full tuition. Last year’s drive netted $ 22,000. Partial scholarships were given to 26 students. Two students received full scholarships to comply with the donor’s request.

Several annual scholarships are given by families in memory of loved ones who have passed from this life. Two of these scholarships are full, four–year scholarships for one freshman girl and one freshman boy for each of their four years of education at HTA. Memorial Scholarships can be established as full or partial scholarships with a minimum donation of $500. Donors of Memorial Scholarships can name the scholarship and also set the criteria by which it is distributed.

There is currently one Endowed Scholarship that is established and 6 Endowed Scholarships that have been initiated but not yet established. Endowed Scholarships may be initiated by submitting a minimum donation of $100. This amount denotes the intent to establish an endowed scholarship and identifies the name(s) of the donor(s). Once the fund reaches $10,000 it is considered “established”.

In addition to the annual scholarships and the endowed scholarships, donations are being requested for the General Tuition Fund which helps current or new students are not able to pay the full tuition. Last year it cost $3500 per student to educate the 86 students who attended HTA. Tuition ranged between $1700 and $2200 per student. The difference between the cost to educate a student and the tuition charged was covered by fundraisers. Every family donated 25 hours of service to the school or paid an additional $250.

As HTA grows it is expected that more students will need financial aide. The HTA Scholarship Committee has set a goal to raise $ 45,000 for financial aide and scholarships for this next school year. The HTA Scholarship Committee hopes that this drive and the scholarship grants that are being pursued will reduce tuition expense for HTA families.

This community has always been extremely generous in its support of faith-based education.”, said Bill Massarotti, HTA Scholarship Committee Chairman. He continued, “Sometimes approaching education from a faith perspective is very rewarding in that it helps students to grow in faith. Faith plays an important role in all of our lives. The school is here to support parents in raising their children in the Christian faith.” Students of all faiths are welcome at Holy Trinity Academy.

If you are interested in contributing to the HTA Scholarship program please contact Committee Chairman, Bill Massarotti at 859-0067 or at wildbillmass@hotmail.com. Donations are requested by June 1st so that available funds can be advertised with the school’s enrollment drive. However, any donation received before the start of the 2007-2008 school year will be distributed to students for that year.
